Brightly decorated shared taxi, the main form of public transport in the Philippines.
The first jeepneys were built after the Second World War from surplus US military jeeps. They run on fixed routes, pick up passengers along the way and mostly use diesel; drivers' groups have resisted government modernisation plans for years.
